I recently had the pleasure of meeting Estelita Garbino from the Philippines at the Vista Heights ESG Child Learning Centre Day Care. She purchased the daycare back in May of 2005 having no previous experience in running a day care facility. Since she took over, she has turned the fledgling daycare into a vibrant business. The daycare has a capacity of 96 children, and they are almost always near full. In addition to running her daycare, Estelita has demonstrated a sincere desire to add value to the Vista Heights community, and is actively involved in the Vista Heights Action Committee. She believes that she owes it to the community of Vista Heights to add value in any way she can. Estelita is a very hard worker and is very proud of what she has accomplished. She has added a beautiful community garden, which provides fresh vegetables in the summertime. What a novel idea. That’s really thinking outside of the box!
Vista Heights ESG Child Learning Centre Daycare
The purpose of the ESG Child Learning Centre is to provide quality child care for children and their families. They have an open door policy and offer a child-centered approach in a safe and positive environment where creativity is encouraged. Differences are celebrated and respect is valued. They strive to be responsive to the diverse needs of children and their families. As an accredited daycare, they educate staff with seminars, upgrading and workshops in order to become better professionals. There is a staff member with First Aid training on the premises at all times, and employees are required to get their first aid training within 3 months after being hired.
Nursery – ESG Child Learning Centre
The staff are actively involved with the children through interaction and encouragement. Their program gives children opportunities to socialize with others, learn socially acceptable behaviors and build on self esteem and independence. The objective in the infant room is to create bonds and trust. This is achieved through consistent and responsive primary care. Infants needs which include feeding, diapering and cuddling are met quickly and predictably, and are considered opportunities for positive adult-infant interactions. Does it get any better than that?
The day care is arranged in clearly defined activity centres which cater to specific age requirements. Activities include free play, group times, Motor play, hygiene time, transition times and rest.
HOURS OF OPERATION
The day care is open from 6:30 a.m. to 6:00 PM. on weekdays, excepting statutory holidays.

The ESG Child Learning Centre has comprehensive policies defining the treatment of all clients in their care. In addition they are on the lookout for any behavior by the kids which could be interpreted as bullying. This simply is not tolerated. They also have health and safety, including evacuation policies in place. Transportation is provided to schools in the districts of Mayland Heights and Vista Heights.
Field trips are utilized and parents are encouraged to volunteer their time on these excursions, however those without special police clearance must remain with a staff member at all times. and are not under any circumstances allowed to discipline the children in any manner. An orientation process is provided for this purpose.
I have heard some very positive reports about the ESG Child Learning Centre, and in particular from an acquaintance who had children enrolled here, and made it clear that this was one of the better day cares around.
You can easily tell that the ESG Child Learning Centre has a well thought out plan, which is executed very well. The love of these children is evident and Estelita spares no expense to make their stay there a wonderful experience which will benefit everyone. Congratulations Estelita, you have earned your reputation for being one of the best day care providers around!
