The Rocky Mountain Court Condo in Calgary is located at 221 6th Avenue S.E., Calgary, AB. and is registered on Condominium Plan 9312374.  You are definitely buying the location here, which is incredible if you want to be in the heart of things.  The Rocky Mountain Court Condo is just a block away from Calgary City Hall, and the main branch of the Calgary Public Library and it backs onto the C-Train so you can get anywhere along the 7th Avenue corridor for free, in minutes.

The building, with its 29 floors and 300 or so living units, has not been well maintained.  Still, this is reflected in the prices which for the most part seem pretty good value for what you get elsewhere in the same price range, considering all the extras.  Rocky Mountain Court is managed by Maverick Management Inc..

Rocky Mountain Court is pre-fabricated cement apartment conversions.  There are boiler-like laundry facilities on each floor which are uncomfortably hot.  This heat dissipates throughout the hallways.  On the date of my visit, the hallways were in dire need up sprucing up and were quite dingy looking.

Rocky Mountain Court has some a good selection of large & small condos, some have been  very nicely upgraded to the highest standards, while others remain in their original post-conversion state.  The well contained, large balconies unfortunately block off much of the view.

On the street level of Rocky Mountain Court, you’ll find the Well Cafe & Restaurant, The Maharaja Restaurant, the Mezza Mediterranean Grill, Bow Valley Nails, Massage & Spa and a Barber Shop.  The sweet smell of Barbeque chicken from the Mediterranean Grill fills the air all around and I couldn’t resist to try one, which was delicious.  I hear the other restaurants are also very good.

I was unable to see any of the amenities which are on the 5th floor, and apparently a separate key is required to access.  The amenities are on the east side.  You need to go through the stairwell to find them.  Should I ever chance to come back to Rocky Mountain Court, I’ll try again, or if anyone wants to send me their own photos with permission to use, I will gladly put them up.

GrandView Condo Calgary

The GrandView Condo is one of Calgary’s better kept secrets.  You probably drove by it a dozen times and barely took notice of it, as one will with the city growing so quickly.  The GrandView Condo is not to be overlooked however as a contender for one of the finer, well established condominiums in the city. The GrandView Condo is located at 228 26th Ave SW., Calgary, AB, directly across from the Elbow River, just off of the 4th Street bridge, which connects the communities of Mission & Roxboro.  The location is quite beautiful and quiet, and is adjacent to the city’s bike path. The GrandView Condo was designed by Gibbs Gage Architects and built by  Streetside Developments both out of Calgary and comprises mostly 1 and two bedroom units from $500,000 to over $1,000,000.  The GrandView Condo is has one of the few copper roofs to grace our city.

The GrandView high-rise Condo was completed in 2002.  Since this is a year around website, the pictures were taken early winter, but be assured that in the summer, the area is filled with an abundance of greenery.   The GrandView houses 16 delightful floors of luxurious living quarters numbering fifty-six.  Most of these well constructed, high-end units have great views, often in many directions, and all have balconies.

You will know that the Grandview is no ordinary condominium immediately upon approaching the striking building since it is one of the few condos in the city that has automatic entry doors.   It is also one of the few buildings that has around the clock concierge and security service.  The concierge service is very good, and they tend to stay around for quite some time, so they get to know the unit holders quite well.

The lobby in the GrandView is kept impeccably clean at all times.   The building itself has incredibly tight security and unfamiliar faces are carefully monitored via the reasonably conspicuous security cameras.

As might be expected in finer establishments, there is great attention paid to detail.  The GrandView Condo is no exception, and one can’t help but notice the near perfect finishing in just about every corner.  They haven’t cut any corners here, and this is reflected in every detail.

There are quite a few amenities and activities for residents to participate in.  The Lang House Residents Club provides a perfect venue to getting to know your neighbours, most of who are of retirement age or younger.  Monday is games night and starts precisely at 7 PM.  Yoga classes are conducted weekday mornings between 9 and 10.  Of course this is always subject to change.  The Lang House was originally owned by Mr. Lang, one of Calgary’s prominent real estate owners of the 20th century.

When the GrandView Condo was built, the Lang House was relocated to the East, and restored to a beautiful condition. It now makes a perfect combination of meeting room, billiards or games room, and is very charming.

Gateway South Centre

The Gateway South Centre is located at 11811 Lake Fraser Drive SE, Calgary. It is an impressive and large complex with great curb appeal and visibility. Access by way of Lake Fraser Gate South of Anderson Road and North of Canyon Meadows Drive. it is directly across from Bonavista Estates and very nearby Bonavista Village. There is ample shopping opportunities in the neighbouring strip mall and excellent access to the Canyon Meadows LRT station.

They are accessible by way of six strategically placed elevators allowing for close proximity to the various suites. The building is concrete construction with stucco, brick and sandstone type siding. Entrance to the building is off of Lake Fraser Drive.

Additionally, there are 28 underground stalls, plus one handicap underground stall available to visitors who buzz up to your unit. There are substantial fines for use of these facilities by unit-holders looking for overflow. Guests must register their vehicles by calling the telephone number indicated on the signs.

RESTRICTIONS

  • All pets by approval of the condo board. Birds (one if large) and fish are alright. Unit holders may board one cat or one dog but not both, providing that they are well behaved. Dogs no larger than 23 KG or otherwise approved. A non-refundable pet deposit may be required in some cases.
  • Owners leasing their units are required to pay a deposit to the Corporation.
